The Charles Russell Obed River Preserve

 

The Charles Russell Obed River Preserve was founded as a conservation easement under the auspices of the Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation. Located near Crossville, Tennessee, it is composed of 45 acres of woodland, river, falls and residential space. Many native plant species are found on the property, as well as rare and endangered wildlife species, such as the spotted chub fish found in the river.

 The dedication was held in May, 2002.  The Preserve is being developed in loving memory of Charles Russell, an avid gardener, plantsman, outdoorsman, and creative talent.  More information can be found in the articles published in the Tennessee Greenways Annual Report of 2002 :
